Now Hiring: Podcast Teaching Artist
HAM’s In Transition: Media program provides students with video production skills to give young people the tools to tell their stories as they engage in critical investigations of self and society. Participating students will range from ages 14-25 and will vary in levels of expertise and interest in filmmaking. The ideal candidate will have experience and/or interest in building community and motivation amongst students.
In spring 2021, HAM will be offering a four-week session focusing on the creation of youth-centered podcasts with social justice commentary All workshops will be taught remotely using students’ cell phones and some audio equipment made available to students to use at home. The program will run from April 20th -May 15th on Tuesdays 4:00 pm-5:30 pm and Saturdays 1:00 pm-2:30 pm.
HAM seeks an instructor with experience in podcasting/audio recording and editing.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience (3+ years) facilitating audio production curricula to teens in public school settings or community-based media programs. Strong classroom management skills, a good sense of humor and facility with audio equipment and audio editing programs is mandatory. Experience in multi-disciplinary arts settings including performing arts is preferred. Candidate should have previous experience in teaching podcasting to teens.
Pay is commensurate with experience and starts at $65/hour.
Positions available starting in February 2021. This position is only open to candidates based in the NYC Metro area.
