Now Hiring: Theatre Teaching Artists
Hook Arts Media is seeking part-time theatre educators (esp. those with experience in applied theatre and/or devised theatre) for its work at public high schools in New York City.
HAM offers in-school theatre programs at NYC high schools.
This program asks students to take real-life experiences and turn them into dramatic pieces while learning the building blocks of theatre and developing a vocabulary to discuss plays by peers and by professional artists.
Through role-plays, theatre games, writing, and storytelling, participants are asked to question their own points of view and to examine their places in society and the issues that impact them.
This is a 1 hour/week in-person teaching artist position in Manhattan.
Due to evolving COVID-19 safety guidelines, applicants are required to be fully vaccinated before starting this position.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience (3+ years) facilitating theatre curricula to teens in public school and/or community-based settings. Strong classroom management skills and a good sense of humor are mandatory. Experience in “applied theatre” settings, using theatre to access various modes of learning, is preferred.
This position pays $100/hour.
Positions starting ASAP. This position is only open to candidates based in the NYC Metro area.
To be considered, please apply your resume, cover letter, and at least 2 references via the form below.
