Now Hiring: Tik Tok Video Teaching Artist

Hook Arts Media is seeking part-time experienced media educators for its programs.

HAM’s In Transition: Media program provides students with video production skills to give young people the tools to tell their stories as they engage in critical investigations of self and society. Participating students will range from ages 14-25 and will vary in levels of expertise and interest in filmmaking. The ideal candidate will have experience and/or interest in building community and motivation amongst students.

Depending on evolving COVID-19 safety guidelines, sessions will be taught using a blend of in-person and online instruction. HAM has extensive film and audio production equipment and computers available for student use. 

In Fall 2021, HAM will be offering a four-week session focusing on Tik Tok videos with youth-centered social justice commentary. Sessions will be taught remotely using students’ cell phones.

HAM seeks an instructor with experience in Tik Tok video production.

Experience

The ideal candidates will have significant experience (3+ years) facilitating media curricula for teens in public school settings or community-based media programs. Strong facilitation skills, a commitment to equity and inclusion, a sense of humor, and previous experience teaching on Zoom preferred. 

Pay is commensurate with experience and starts at $60/hour.

Positions starting Fall 2021: Tues 4-6 Virtual and Sat 1-4 in person, October 19-November 1, 2021.

This position is only open to candidates based in the NYC Metro area.
