IN TRANSITION MEDIA
This program is designed to train beginner to intermediate-level filmmakers how to produce cause-based documentaries from pre-production, production to post production. The course will culminate with a celebratory film screening for students to showcase their completed films to friends, family and industry supporters.
Eligible students must be between 16 – 24 years of age and available to commit to all classes. All students will receive minimum wage equivalent stipends while participating in the program.

DIGITAL BOOT CAMP
The Digital Boot Camp is a community collaboration between Hook Arts Media, South Brooklyn Community High School and Good Shepherd Services. It is a summer intensive film production program for teens and young adults ages 16-24 that meets for 20 hours a week Monday through Thursday for four weeks (usually second week of July through first week of August) in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Students learn camera operation, sound recording, use of lighting equipment, video editing software and produce short documentary videos on topics of relevance to themselves and their communities. All participants earn minimum wage equivalent stipends for their participation. The program concludes with a public screening of students’ films for families and friends.

DIGITAL CONNECTIONS
An intensive, multi-month program. Accepted applicants- or “Film Fellows”- will improve their filmmaking skills while building their portfolios and growing their professional networks. Film Fellows can look forward to the following:
- Hands-on filmmaking skills training with professional equipment
- Software training with the Adobe Creative Suite
- Career mentorship
- Portfolio development, including resume, reels, and website
- Resources to produce a short film
- Support to find a paying position in the industry at the end of the program
- Film Screening to showcase work to industry professionals, friends and family

SCHOOL BASED PROGRAMS
Our rigorous, in-school, multidisciplinary arts curriculum engages high school students, in their schoolwork, their communities, and in the issues that shape their lives. We specialize in working with over-aged and/or under-credited students in transfer high schools. Our programs measurably increase students’ attendance, school engagement, and interest in educational/career opportunities beyond the classroom.
