Red Hook Fest
One of the most beloved Brooklyn arts festivals will return in June 2020. Part summer concert, part dance show, part community-wide party, all fun! The 27th Annual Red Hook Fest returns Friday, June 5 – Saturday, June 6, 2020!
Always Free. Always Fun.
On Friday, June 5th, the festival will open at 5:30 PM at PS15 in Red Hook, Brooklyn, NYC. Audiences will enjoy a community barbecue, special performances, and a DJ-led dance party. Most importantly, it’s FREE!
On Saturday, June 6, the festival will continue in one of Brooklyn’s most beautiful parks. Valentino Park and Pier features stunning views of Downtown Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. Free family-friendly activities will include kayaking in the harbor, face-painting, coloring, in addition to interactive activities from the stage.
Our Saturday mainstage lineup includes some of NYC’s top bands in concert with soaring dance groups, including:
We’re happy to announce that Martha Redbone Roots Project will be one of the headlining bands in concert with other progressive musicians and dancers!
Martha Redbone is a Native & African-American vocalist, songwriter, composer, and educator. She is known for her unique gumbo of folk, blues, and gospel from her childhood in Harlan County, Kentucky infused with the eclectic grit of pre-gentrified Brooklyn. Inheriting the powerful vocal range of her gospel-singing African American father and the resilient spirit of her mother’s Cherokee/Shawnee/Choctaw culture, Redbone broadens the boundaries of American Roots music. With songs and storytelling that share her life experience as a Native and Black woman and mother in the new millennium, Redbone gives voice to issues of social justice, bridging traditions from past to present, connecting cultures, while celebrating the human spirit.
We are proud to partner with the organizations working to make NYC a safer, more sustainable, and just community. As a result of these partnerships, we can share vital resources, education, and services. In addition to these resources, each festival includes fun activities for the whole family! Popular annual activities include:
- Scavenger Hunts (with prizes!)
- Reading Tents
- Kayaking on the harbor (as a result of our longstanding partnership with Red Hook Boaters)
In addition to NYC’s most powerful dance groups and bands, we are proud to present talented youth groups on the mainstage. Red Hook Fest has presented NYC’s most powerful young artists performing:
- Mexican Folk Dance
- Hip Hop
- Step Dance
- Modern Dance
